Anger Solutions EBOOK now available on Smashwords

Happy New Year!

I am very excited to announce that my most popular book, Anger Solutions: Proven Strategies for Effectively Resolving Anger and Taking Control of Your Emotions, is now available in EBook format. Thanks to the amazing folks at Smashwords Publishing (www.smashwords.com), you can now purchase and download the e-version of this book for your Kindle, Kobo, PDF reader, or other e-book reader format that you desire.

The E-version of the book is much more affordable than the print version for a couple of reasons (only $5.99 USD)- first, it is an e-version and much less costly to produce -  no printing, shipping, or packaging costs are required on my end, and I can pass that savings on to you! Second, some of the content that was contained in the appendix of the print version is now out of date, or no longer needed in a digital version. Contact information for crisis lines across Canada, along with information about eating disorder clinics, grief counseling, partner assault response programs, etc., are readily available via the Internet. Readers are still encouraged to avail themselves of these resources; however, the listings from the print version were deleted for the e-version. Lastly, we have updated the bibliography and included complete references for the sources that informed the book. In all, the page count has been reduced to about 90 pages; however, the full content from all the chapters is there for your reading enjoyment.

Please tell your friends, and visit www.smashwords.com today to get your copy of Anger Solutions for your favourite e-reader.

If you still prefer PRINT, have no fear! You can still order a print version of Anger Solutions from our online store: http://store.angersolution.com.

Developments in Anger Solutions

I cannot say how excited I am to be running Anger Solutions groups again after a long hiatus. It is great to get back to the roots of the program and to experience firsthand the excitement of watching participants go through the transformative process that is Anger Solutions. I'm writing this quick note to let you all in on what's new in the world of Anger Solutions.

Now that our new website (Leverage U) is up and running, it is time to pay attention to the CAASP section and to move Anger Solutions fully into the world of Web 2.0. To that end, we are currently updating our listing of authorized licensed providers to display on the website. In addition, we are taking the summer months to develop our JIT (just in time) training platform for those who would like to take Anger Solutions training but cannot afford the time away from work, the cost of training, and/or the travel required to come to Niagara for on-site training. We are, at this time, vetting and preparing to purchase state of the art webinar software through which we will be able to fully automate  remote Anger Solutions Bootcamp training. It is a very exciting prospect and we will have more news for you as time goes by.

With our new website, we are also going to enable license renewals through our online store. It is our hope that this process will also become fully automated in the near future; when the transition is complete, you will receive your license renewal notice at the same time every year, pay it online, and print your updated license agreement from the website. Easy peasy.

As for placing bulk orders online, that feature is not available at present; however, I like talking with you when you call to make an order, and providing that personal service keeps us all connected. I'm not sure we want to change that.

With regard to new materials, there is nothing in the hopper at this time. Last year was a banner year for new resource publication and frankly, I'm a little burned out from writing! :) In fact, one of our 2013 projects is data entry. We have bucket loads of data that you have submitted from your group sessions, and we want to begin aggregating this data in earnest, with a view to publishing our findings sometime in 2014. As promised, these research efforts will be of use to all of us as we strive to establish Anger Solutions as the best evidence-based anger "management" practice tool.

That's it for now! Please take a quick trip to www.angersolution.com and see how the site is progressing. Stop in often, as there will be more changes to come in the days ahead.

New home, new face for Anger Solutions

I am so excited to announce that after many years, Anger Solutions and our Leverage U programs now have a new home and a new face, thanks to Paul Pollard at OmegaWeb (www.omegaweb.ca). He has done a fantastic job of rebranding the site and providing us with an easy-to-navigate, user friendly site that will certainly represent Anger Solutions and Leverage U for the years to come.

Leverage U's home on the web will continue to be found at http://www.angersolution.com, and you can still access us using the traditional email addresses: info@ and julie@ .

Our new store is a secure site managed by Chase Paymentech, so you can rest assured that your online purchases are as risk free as possible, and we will be enabling the store site to allow our regular clients and customers to pay their invoices online for convenience's sake.

As on our previous site, we will continue to proudly list the names and agencies of our Certified Facilitators, Trainers, Master Trainers, and Coaches, and provide links to their websites.

I welcome you to check out the site, and tell us what you think! Use our contact form to share your feedback. I look forward to hearing from you!

This new resource is developed just for you - our family of facilitators, trainers and coaches. Here is a brief demonstration of how the cards work.

Volume Discount Restructuring for AS Resources

For over 10 years, we have worked hard to keep the pricing of the Anger Solutions resources reasonable and stable, and we are proud of the fact that we have not raised any of the prices of our learning resources throughout the recent periods of economic instability. However, in order for us to remain competitive and sustainable as a service and a provider of leading edge anger resources, we must re-adjust our resource pricing structure. After much consideration, it has been decided that rather than increase unit pricing, we will make some slight re-adjustments in our volume discounts with the view towards keeping partner agency costs down, and to continue to reward you for volume purchases.

Volume Discounts will now be as follows:

Number of items
Discount
1-10

11-20
15%
21-30
20%
31-40
25%

Please remember to place your orders at least 2 weeks in advance of your group/training start date to assure that we can fulfill and ship your items prior to your deadline.

Thank you!

History of the Canadian Association of Anger Solutions Practitioners

How CAASP Came into Being:

Since the establishment of BODA reLEAF consulting in 1997, over 200 counsellors, social workers, and private practitioners have received training in Anger Solutions™. The Train the Trainer program was developed in 2004 to meet the need of agencies experiencing high staff turnover, which often resulted in a loss of the program when trained facilitators moved on to new jobs. Since 2004, over 50 Trainers have been certified along with four Master Trainers, several of whom have taken on added responsibility within a growing network of Anger Solutions™ Practitioners.

To meet the growing need for networking, continued education, and accountability within the network of Anger Solutions Practitioners, it was decided in 2006 to create an association for AS professionals. The goal of the association is to facilitate communication and sharing of best practices in AS across the network, and to work together to pool our resources by way of collecting and compiling data on the success of our respective programs. As stated in our mission – we are dedicated to enhancing the professionalism of AS practitioners at all levels, as well as positioning Anger Solutions™ as the single, best choice for anger programming in Canada.

The association, while still in its infancy is developing a structure – another stage of that development comes with the utilization of technology for us to stay connected.  Current technological advances mean that we can communicate more easily than ever before. To date, the association has developed these means of inter-communication:

·         Anger Solutions™ Coaches Corner – a periodical E-Newsletter that is sent electronically to all certified AS Facilitators and Trainers (current and lapsed).

·         Resources, reports, assessment tools, and a library of reading materials conveniently placed online (currently under new development – we will be bringing you a new site with a new look, and more resources. In the meantime, please refer to the blog for news and tools you can use).

·         A directory of current association members in good standing (also found at www.angersolution.com/membership.php)

·         The CAASP Annual Retreat. 2008 was our first year hosting the retreat, which was generously sponsored by the Canadian Mental Health Association of Sault Ste. Marie, Giant Life Solutions, BODA reLEAF consulting, and Red Chair Branding. At this meeting, the group in attendance worked together to further solidify the structure of the organization, voting in a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Membership Coordinator, and establishing the bylaws of the association.  Due to the economic recession which began at the end of 2008, it was decided to put the annual retreat on hold until the economy recovered. Alas, it is 2012 and the world still appears to be reeling from the impact of the 2008 crisis, although here in Canada, we are experiencing slow but steady recovery. When the retreat resumes, it will take place at the same time each year – the final week of the summer before Labour Day weekend. It was agreed by all in attendance at the 2008 retreat that we will continue to host the retreat at the Kempenfelt Conference Resort in Barrie, Ontario for at least 2 more years.

·         Anger Pros Blog: http://www.angerpros.blogspot.com – a tool for passing on relevant information between newsletter publishings.

·         Tele-classes for continuing education – now f*ree to all members in good standing.

As a member of the CAASP, you can take advantage of these opportunities to share information and be a part of the ongoing development of the Anger Solutions™ Program.
